Chad Valley works founded as an offset of venerable board and card game maker Johnson Brothers was known throughout the British Isles as a maker of high-quality dolls. King George VI and his wife Elizabeth were among the brand's fans and Chad Valley earned a Royal Warrant. This recognition aided their landing of a coveted license from Disney to be the UK producer of a series of dolls for SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS the studio's first full-length animated film. Now among "the most collectable toys in the world" The Woolworths Museum the Chad Valley SNOW WHITE AND THE SEVEN DWARFS are a beautiful example of deluxe official Disney merchandise. This Doc doll is illustrative of their excellent reputation. Among the earliest of Disney merchandise film tie-ins these are rarely found in their original box. 7'' x 4'' dwarf; 7.25'' x 4.5'' x 2.75'' box. Stiff plush doll with molded felt face and celluloid glasses with Chad Valley fabric tag sewn to stomach under clothes. With original Chad Valley dangle tag to arm. In original color paper over chipboard box with Chad Valley "Hygienic Toys" paper label to front stamped with product number 1660 and "DOC". Box and label with light edgewear two small holes to bottom likely from display mounting; lid a bit toned to top. Doll with a touch of rubbing to nose a couple tiny areas of soil. Bright. The five flip books can be viewed from both directions so that a total of ten different animated scenes - claimed to be 1000 images by the publisher - can be viewed.To the verso of the front wrap appear a synopsis of the happenings of the five flip books and ten different scenes.Lacking only one leaf being the final leaf of the second book.The separate "Instructions for using the Movie Book" are not present.A wonderful and scarce production from the Walt Disney Company displaying humorous and slapstick scenes featuring the characters Donald Duck and Pluto the pet dog of Mickey Mouse. In the publisher's original pictorial paper wraps. Light rubbing to wrap perimeters and to back strip head and tail. Light edgewear to front wrap head. Internally firmly bound with one flap tenderly held. Flaps lightly age toned with the odd small closed tear. Lacking final flap of second reel. Very Good Collins paperback
