Title page with partial index followed by ten card leaves decorated recto and verso with twenty-one photographs of various sizes along with postcards letters pressed plants including marijuana leaf and ephemera with "magnetic" acetate covering. Faintly visible but illegible writing at front cover. Boards lightly edgeworn and rubbed. Corner bumped. Some toning to interior. Adheisive browned. Acetate covering loose at some leaves some contents loose. Very good. <br/><br/>An eclectic scrapbook capturing the atmosphere and aesthetics of the post-hippie era in Southern California. Album belonging to a female student of California State University Northridge. One gets a sense of her priorities by going down the index list: Eleanor "My Best Buddy Pal and Partner"; Iota Chi her sorority; Dope a collage featuring pressed pot leaf and rolling papers; and Partying scenes straight out of Linklater's DAZED AND CONFUSED complete with feathered hair bongs and Led Zeppelin posters. A spread of concert tickets show a taste for acts like The Who The Rolling Stones Eagles Rod Stewart Jethro Tull and Neil Young. Pressed flowers and original artwork throughout round out the flowerchild aesthetics. This highly personal album has chill vibes man. hardcover books

Having struggled to find work in New York City 25-year-old Gloria Steinem moved to Cambridge in 1959 to assume the position of co-director of the anti-Communist program the Independent Service for Information on the Vienna Youth Festival. The Service masquerading as a private enterprise whose aim was to send democracy- and capitalism-loving American youth to the communist-run Festival was funded by an anonymous donor later revealed to be the CIA though Steinem would have been aware of this from the start. The present pamphlet was issued a month before the Festival began and provides a detailed critique of the quality of Soviet literature: "The trouble with Soviet literature as Ilya Ehrenburg sees it is that Soviet writers say things they do not believe" p. 5.
