Bu olaylarin etkisiyle Sehriyar, kendi ülkesinde, her gün bir kizla evlenip ertesi gün onu idam ettirir olmus; bu yüzden vezirin güzel, bilgili ve akilli kizi Sehrazat, hükümdarla evlenip ya bu ugurda yasamini yitirmeye ya da kurtulup ülkenin tüm kadinlarini da bu beladan kurtarmaya karar vermis; babasini da buna ikna etmis. O gece gerdege girmeden önce, hükümdardan son dilek olarak kizkardesi Dünyazat'i görmek istemis; Dünyazat da ondan son bir dilekte bulunmus: 'Ne olursun ablacigim, o güzel masallarindan birini son defa bana anlat!'. Hükümdardan ruhsat aldiktan sonra, ilginç ve merak uyandiran bir masal anlatmaya baslamis Sehrazat; ve safak sökerken en heyecanli yerinde kesmis masalini: Gündüz masal anlatilmaz diye. Ne var ki Dünyazat kadar, Hükümdar Sehriyar da meraklanarak masalin sonunu getirmek üzere onun canini bagislamis. Birbirinden güzel masallari birbirine ekleyerek binbir gece masal anlatmis Sehrazat. Bu arada hükümdarla sevismeyi de sürdürerek üç çocuk sahibi olmus. Binbir Gece Masallari'nin temasi, 'Kadinin sadakatsizligi' üzerine kurulmustur denebilir. Ne var ki Sehrazat, kadinin: Ana, es, kizkardes ve kiz çocuk olarak varligini yücelten, belki de dünyada ilk (Aristofanes'in Lysistrata'si ilk sayilirsa, ikinci) ve en önemli feminist görüsü olusturabilecek bir karsi tez getirmektedir. Kitaplar bütünüyle sadakat ve sadakatsizligin genis bir sentezini yapmakta ve sonunda Sehrazat'in fikri üstün gelmektedir. Ancak bu genis sentez 'masal içinde masal' seklinde labirentlerle dolu bir sisteme oturtulmustur. Sonunda da bu labirentlerden rahatça kurtulma olanagini saglamistir. Tüm dünyada fikir ve sanat hayatini genis sekilde etkileyen Binbir Gece Masallari'nin gerçek degeri 19. yüzyilin sonu ve 20. yüzyilin bunlari 16 cilt olarak, oldugu gibi, Arapça'dan aktaran Dr. Joseph-Charles Mardrus'ün çabalarindan sonra ortaya çikti. Her bir cildi ayni yillarda yasayan Stephane Mallarme, Anatole France, Jose-Maria Heredia, Andre Gide, Maurice de Maeternick, Pierre Louys, Remy de Gourmond gibi edebiyatçilara adanan Dr. Mardrus'ün çevirisi, edebî çevrelerde, daha önce Galland'inkine gösterilen ilgiden de öte bir ilgi gördü. Binbir Gece Masallari son yüzyillarda fikir ve edebiyati etkiledigi gibi, opera, bale, tiyatro, sinema gibi diger sanatlarca da ele alinarak degerlendirildi. Masallarin kaynaginin Çin'den Kuzey Afrika'ya kadar uzanan bir haritada: Çin Hindi, Hindistan, Iran, Irak, Türkiye, Suriye ve Misir'i da içeren cografyalarda artik bilinmektedir. General Adolf Galland (1912-1996), one of Germany's leading fighter pilots of WWII, served as General der Jagdflieger (overall commander of the national fighter force) from 1941 to 1945. His combat career began in the Spanish Civil War during which he completed over 300 missions with Condor Legion. Throughout the Battle of Britain he served with III/JG26 against England and Northern France, and in 1942 devised the successul air protection of Operation CERBERUS, the famous 'Channel Dash' of the SCHARNHORST, GNEISENAU AND PRINZ EUGEN. Later in the same year he tested an early prototype of the Me262, the world's first operational jet fighter, before leaving combat to concentrate on the air defence of Germany against the RAF and USAAF bombing offensive. Increasingly critical of higher Nazi authority, he was relieved of his command following the 'Fighter Revolt' and returned to front-line duty with the elite Jagdverband in the Spring of 1945. He finished the war with 103 victories on over 700 missions and was awarded the Knight's Cross with Oakleaves, Swords and Diamonds, one of Germany's highest decorations. Galland's autobiography was first published as 'Die Ersten und die Letzen' in 1953 and is widely regarded as the most insightful and far-reaching account of WWII Axis air combat and one of the finest overall aviation memoirs of all time.
