Bound in half morocco with marbled paper to the boards and decorative gilt details to the spine. This historical novel was written by Prosper Merimee and features a story set during the reign of King Charles IX in the sixteenth century combining fiction with accounts of real historical events such as the 'St. Bartholomew's day massacre'. The work is beautifully accompanied by illustrations by Edouard Toudouze a French artist. Bound in half morocco with marbled paper to the boards.
