Rebacked probably during the 19th century; raised bands on spine; faded titling on red leather panel at head of spine. Front joint slightly exposed but stitched binding otherwise very intact. Faded bookplate on front pastedown. Engraved frontispiece 10 plates 1 plate at p353 has been removed. Very occasional spotting but pp in the main are supple and clear. Owner's name at head of title page dd 1873 plus some pencil notes also on title page. Vol II: Brown leather boards smooth; somewhat worn and scuffed; corners a little worn. Backstrip very scuffed and rubbed but backstrip and boards very intact; binding tight. Raised bands on spine; faded titling on red leather panel at head of spine; other panelling between the bands is worn but traces of decoration remain. Faded bookplate on front pastedown. Engraved frontispiece 8 plates all present. Very occasional spotting but pp in the main are supple and clear. Owner's name at head of title page and p1 dd 1873 plus some pencil notes also on title page on verso of title page and p1. List of plates at end of Vol II.; 8vo 5 1/2" x 8"; 466470 pages .
