Cartonnage d'origine illustré pour le titre: une fillette à boucles blondes entourée de deux jeunes vaches est en train de lire Le grand album de l'éditeur dont le nom s'affiche sur les couvertures. Reliure de l'époque restaurée le dos consolidé. Le dernier plat muet est griffonné. Ce rare abécédaire "indéchirable sur toile" est illustré à chaque page et comporte un grand tableau de l'alphabet. Les images en bistre dont quatre en couleur sont accompagnées d'un texte animalier en très gros caractères pouir les jeunes lecteurs débutants. Quelques taches et salissures. Broché en papier agrafes au centre couvertures avec titre illustré pour la première et quadrillage jaune à la seconde. Quelques taches. Un "papa oiseau" fait la leçon à ses poussins l'un d'eux est puni avec un bonnet d'âne. En tête de l'alphabet se trouve une page consacrée aux chiffres; et comme pour les pages suivantes qui concernent les lettres de l'alphabet la moitié de la page est réservée à l'écriture. Les images en couleur qui occupent la moitié des pages sont essentiellement animalières quelques unes sont malicieuses.
