Text entirely in Yiddish save verso of title page which provides both a transcription and an English-language translation of the title and publisher. Exceedingly uncommon autobiography of Celia Adler 1899-1979 daughter of Jacob Adler and half-sister to Stella Adler known as the "First Lady of the Yiddish Theatre." Adler was associated with the Yiddish Art Theater movement of the 1920s and gave one of the first theatrical portrayals of a Holocaust survivor in her brother Luther's 1946 Broadway production A Flag is Born. Unaccountably scarce even for an American work written entirely in Yiddish: OCLC notes a single location only in the U.S. Northwestern; five more copies are in European and Israeli institutions.
