New English Paperback. Pbo. 4to. (29 x 24 cm). In English and Turkish. 126 p., color and b/w ills. 'I was born of a father of white and of a small glass of Andalusian water of life, I was born of a mother the daughter of a fifteen year-old daughter born in Málaga in Los Percheles the beautiful bull who engendered me his forehead wreathed in jasmine.' Pablo Ruíz Picasso, born in Málaga in 1881, in a house facing the Merced Square in the heart of a city that already had 2500 years of history, comes with the memories of a house full of sisters and aunts, with doves fluttering around the square where he played as a small child, and the smell of paint in the walls. The selection, curated by Mario Virgilio Montañez Arroyo, offering us examples of the stylistic transitions of an artist who has made his mark on visual formats ever since the last century, is a reflection of his world; his constant and never-ending search. Engravings from the Picasso Foundation, Birthplace Museum's Collection are exhibited to create a full panorama of the models, techniques, and styles of the artist between 1923 and 1969, half a century of changing creation during which he combines and switches between Classicism, Cubism, and Surrealism. Traditional themes are questioned in six sections, which reflect and bear witness to Picasso's incessant search, his defence of the freedom and independence of the artist, which made him the 20th century's greatest artist. Engravings and ceramics, extending from realistic depictions of certain subjects to their Cubist and Surrealist interpretations, are accompanied by his personal elements of Picasso's belongings when he was a child.".

Africa, North -- History. In: Evidences, 6eme annee, no. 42, septembre-octobre 1954. Other Titles: Evidences. Aron (19051983) , was a French sociologist and writer. Aron, who was born in Paris, taught at Le Havre, Toulouse, Cologne, and Berlin. In 1956 he was appointed professor of sociology at the Sorbonne, and director of studies at the Ecole Pratique des Hautes Etudes in Paris in 1960. During World War II he was editor of Free France La France Libre, published in London, and subsequently contributed both as writer and editor to Combat, Le Figaro, and the European Journal of Sociology, and other periodicals. His main interest was the analysis of modern industrial society which, in his opinion, is not so much defined by the class struggle as by the clash of competing political systems. Hence he was rather an exception among French thinkers of his time, and his commitment to liberal democracy set him apart from the then Marxist-dominated intellectual tendencies. Although not involved in Jewish affairs, Aron remained a conscious Jew. In a series of essays published as De Gaulle, Israel and the Jews, he concluded that even if the French president was not himself an antisemite, his notorious press conference after the Six-Day War certainly encouraged the anti-Jewish elements in French society (Boskoff in EJ 2007) .
