Boards are extremely grubby, worn and faded, and appear to have considerable water damage. Volumes smell rather musty. Spine, spine edges and ends are very worn and frayed, and there are two noticeable tears to the spine of Volume III. Leading corners are very worn, frayed and bent, with some fabric loss. Page blocks are sunned and grubby. Pastedowns and endpapers have red staining caused by water damage. Pages are rather faded, with intermittent age - spotting and fading. About The Book : The Dictionary is intented to serve the practical needs of English speakers who want to learn to read, write and converse in Telugu on subjects of general interest and to read and appreciate modern Telugu prose literature, it is also intented to be useful to Telugu Speakers who refer to it for English equivalents of the Telugu words and expressions that are cited. The main thrust of the dictionary has been towards making it by citing a wide range of Telugu words and phrases that occurs commonly in modern communication and presenting their English equivalents in translation. Each entry begins with head words in Telugu and Roman script followed by a grammatical category libel in abbreviated form in italics. About the Author:-Charles Philip Brown (1798 – 1884) was a British official of the East India Company. He worked in what is now Andhra Pradesh, and became an important scholarly figure in Telugu language literature. While Brown concentrated on Telugu, he was a polyglot. Other languages Brown is said to have known were Greek, Latin, Persian and Sanskrit. He supported Telugu in three ways - he produced his own works, he recovered and discovered old works and he printed books in Telugu. He financed himself and sometimes borrowed to do so.
