Le Martiniquais Eugène Mona, de son vrai nom, Georges Nilecam, fut un chanteur-auteur-compositeur et flûtiste. Il fut également surnommé " l’artiste aux pieds nus ". Artiste créole, revendiquant pleinement ses héritages croisés africain et européen il mélangeat plusieurs types de musiques, allant du créole aux sonorités tamoules, en passant par le jazz et les rythmes africains. Les écrivains Patrick Chamoiseau et Raphaël Confiant lui firent des éloges pour ses chants qui renfermaient un puissant contenu littéraire créole authentique. Rare.
