Two star bands on the top and bottom of the front cover, title and collective authorship on the front. Detailed index (8 pp.!) at the beginning of the book. Many empty pages left as "Memorandum" to be filled with notes. This now rare book is full of interesting recipes and tips. It features typical Brazilian dishes such as broinhas, Bahia patties or cheese tartlets as well as English or even French dishes. Muitas páginas vazias deixadas como “Memorandum” para serem preenchidas com anotações. Este livro raro está cheio de receitas e dicas interessantes. Apresenta pratos típicos brasileiros como broinhas, empanadas baianas ou tortinhas de queijo, além de pratos ingleses ou mesmo franceses. Embora nenhuma foto esteja incluída, isso deve dar muita inspiração na hora de cozinhar!

Full of typical 1950s ads, this booklet describes to the English-speaking visitor what he can expect in São Paulo: the "picturesque environs", cultural life, museums, hotels.. with one folding map. Of note is a advertisement for a fur-caring service (in a place where winter barely exists!) A true snapshot of the vibrant São Paulo, then fastest-growing city of the world. An extremely rare reference - almost nothing found on the Internet. Emitted before the 4th centenary of the city.

This library was made possible by a $6.2 million gift by the Ford Foundation in 1959. The building, a modern-style construction, was designed to host over 400.000 books with ample space. This UN Library was named in honor of Dag Hammarskjold (not to be confused with Ragnar Danneskjold!), late secretary of the United Nations. This book was the honorary publication of the UN celebrating the opening of the library. It was NOT sold to bookshops or resellers, only given to various UN members and public libraries worldwide and finding a copy for sale is a rare event.
