The Caylus engraving is titled "Conclusion du Roman" but is best known as the "petit pieds" plate. Translated by J. Amyot Bishop of Auxerre. The engravings by B. Audran are from designs by Philip Duke of Orleans. Full red morocco binding by Simier is heavily worn on the extremities and hinges where it has been inexperty recolored but this poor attempt at recoloring does not distract from the elegance and beauty of the elaborate gilt-stamped decorations. The front endpaper marbled is detached. The text is clean and unmarked. Early edition with different pagination that the editions that appear on the market.
