Published for the 'Popular Education and Recreation Library' being an illustrated edition of this four-part novel.In the original decorative cloth binding. Undated dated from a copy held by Hathi Trust. 'Histoire d'un Paysan' is a serial novel by Erckmann-Chatrian i.e. Emile Erckmann and Alexandre Chatrian which describes the French Revolution as seen from Lorraine. Illustrated by Theophile Schuler with engravings by Francois Pannemaker including a frontispiece title page illustrations and further illustrations throughout the text. In the original cloth binding. Externally very smart with rubbing and bumping to the extremities. Internally firmly bound. Pages are age toned but generally clean with occasional spots heaviest to the first and last few leaves.
