André Mauroir was a French author. Les Silences du Colonel Bramble was his first published novel recounting his experience in the French army during the First World War in a very witty and socially realistic language which gained him popularity in France upon publication and in the United Kingdom and English speaking countries with the translated edition. A lovely later edition of 1944 in the original French. With the unclipped dust wrapper. In the original publisher's cloth binding. Externally lovely with minor shelf wear only and a slight bumping to the head and tail of the spine and extremities. Inscribed by a previous owner to the front free endpaper dated 19548. The dust wrapper is smart with some shelf wear and edge wear some chipping to the tail of the spine and a minor loss to the head of the spine. Unclipped. Internally firmly bound. With the minor odd spot to the very occasional leaf otherwise the pages are bright and clean. Very Good Indeed Nelson hardcover
