Together with van Dale in â€De oraculis veterum ethnicorum dissertationes†1683 Fontanelle claimed that the ancient oracle answers were given neither by the supernatural agency of demons nor the Devil and also that they did not cease with the birth of Jesus. A view that stirred up oppositon in the church. The â€Le politique du temps†is a new edition of â€Le politique du temps; ouvrage qui traite de la puissance authorité et du pouvoir des princes†published in Paris 1650 which is a reprint of a pamphlet published in 1574.
