Separated from his wife Madeleine at the end of the 1960s André Malraux began a second relationship with the writer Louise de Vilmorin and moved in with her at the Vilmorin château in Verrières-le-Buisson. After her death on December 26 1969 André Malraux continued to live at the château with Louise's niece Sophie de Vilmorin who became his last companion and cared for him until his death on November 23 1976. s. n. unknown
