The full edition was 225 copies 200 of which were numbered and 20 marked hors commerce both without the additional signed print. Malraux winner of the Nobel Prize in Literature provided the text based on a previously unpublished manuscript from 1939 about his experiences in the Spanish Civil War. Chagall executed the etchings with the plates destroyed after printing. Folio. With 16 full-page etchings with aquatint by Chagall 2 double page. Sheet size: 44 x 33 cm. Text in French. Original Rives wove paper wrappers lettering to front cover in black pages printed on Rives wove paper with deckled edges and publisher's watermark.
