The covers of both volumes are rubbed and bumped with minor wear to the head & tail of the spine and a small tear to the top of the first volumes' front joint. 155 & 4 pages; and 223 & 4 pages with profuse black & white illustrations including many full-page and tipped-in color plates. The hinges of both volumes are starting to crack and the front endpaper of the first volume has been excised. Good.</p><p>From the library of Dr. Howard D. McKinney d.1980 emeritus professor of music at Rutgers College with his pictorial bookplate on the front pastedown of each volume.
