Sheet Music. a decent clean copy but reinforced with brown paper tape along the spine and the right edge of the front cover. Music and lyrics for a cringeingly racist ditty about "A Coonlet Courtship" with a cover illustration matching the first lyric line: "Two little piccaninnies sitting on a stile" with a handy watermelon at their feet. And of course the front cover proclaims that the song was "sung & illustrated with great success by Maxwell & Simpson" a couple of white guys. I wonder which one of them depicted the little girl The rear cover lists about two dozen additional "Coon Songs" available from the publishers including one by Bert Williams "that are all the rage in the rage of coon songs." If performed today they would no doubt inspire an entirely different variety of rage. . M. Witmark & Sons unknown
