Bound in three quarters blue morocco with blue marbled boards. gilt lines titles and decorations. Binding is in excellent condition with a little rubbing to the raised bands of the spine only. Marbled end papers. Original gilt and pale blue decorated covers are bound in. Plates have descriptive tissue guards. Inside some of the pages particularly end papers have a little darkening / foxing but not extensive. Overall a lovely copy. 280 x 190 mm 11 x 7½ inches. 40 pages. . Reliure en maroquin bleu aux trois quarts avec des planches marbrées bleues des lignes des titres et des décorations dorés. La reliure est en excellente condition avec un peu de frottement aux bandes du dos. Papiers de fin marbrés. Les couvertures originales décorées en bleu pâle et en doré sont reliées. Les planches ont des gardes de tissus descriptifs. A l'intérieur certaines pages en particulier les pages de garde présentent un léger assombrissement / rousseur mais pas trop important. Original wrappers bound into half Morocco and marbled boards. Quarto with 53pp. text and 16 black & white tissue-guarded and captioned plates by Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel. With the bookplate August Jaccaci and inscribed to him by Boutet De Monvel. This is a modern retelling of a 15th Century farce about a cloth merchant and a stolen sheep. Some wear to the spine ends and to the front hinge and foxing to the text and plates thoughout. Louis-Maurice Boutet de Monvel French 1850-1913 was primarily known as a children's book illustrator of the Belle Epoch period.August Jaccaci French 1857-1930 was an art historian writer and painter. hardcover
