First printed in 1657 the work appears here along with the notes by Guillaume Wendrock a.k.a. Pierre Nicole translated from Latin into French.<br>Â Â Â Â The first three volumes were printed in Amsterdam in 1734 and each opens with an engraved frontispiece; the fourth volume was printed in Cologne in 1739. All four volumes have title-pages printed in red and black with the fourth specifying that Nicole's notes were translated by Mademoiselle de Joncourt.<br>Â Â Â Â Provenance: All four title-pages with small early inked ownership inscription in upper outer corner of "A.
