Guyot. Considered one of the most beautiful books illustrated by Guyot. CUSTOM BINDING by J. Franklin Mowery Master Bookbinder and former Head Conservator Folger Shakespeare Library. In a signed letter laid-in Mowery states that that the binding was designed and executed by him in 1974. He goes on to state that it was the first binding he ever sold and the first binding he did in vellum. Provenance: bookplate of John Wallace Skinner. Lovely half morocco fine binding with flowers and fox color decoration on spine and vertical lines all done in an Art Nouveau style. Morocco is over textured marbled boards which match endpapers of card stock. Lovely color illustrations. Preliminaries the first page of story and a few leaves afterward have light to moderate foxing. Some sunning to leather spine an edges of boards.
