According to Webber p.126 this work by the head of the Merrymount Press "is not likely to be superseded as a standard authority on typography." Hart 25 says: "These volumes are without doubt the result of the most scholarly research that has been done in the history of the development of printing and the numerous illustrations have been carefully selected." In his article in THE PRIVATE LIBRARY Summer 1989 Robert Jones of the Glad Hand Press wrote "If I were King I would decree that no personal printing would be permitted until an applicant had studied the following volumes."
