Publisher's salmon pink cloth with the spine lettered in black. The book is dated by the 32-page Spring Catalogue at the rear. Faint offsetting to both sets of end-papers and light foxing to the first few pages of the book overall a bright and clean near fine copy. In the RARE D/W priced 7/6 net to the spine by Youngman Carter which is two-toned each half showing a different scene: to the left in blue has Scotland Yard; to the right in red has a scene on the Thames Embankment with a policeman. The D/W has a slither of loss at the head and tail of the spine not affecting any lettering and has a short 1 cm closed tear and associated crease to the bottom edge of the front panel. Six short stories by leading Detection Club authors each illustrating a perfect murder. Each story is then followed by a superb commentary by Ex-Superintendent Cornish CID detailing how the seemingly perfect murder could have been solved. An interesting variation on the conventional detective fiction anthology in which the six authors contribute stories featuring supposedly foolproof murders each followed by an exposition of the flaws in the criminal scheme by the recently retired detective George W. Cornish of Scotland Yard. Octavo. Original salmon pink cloth titles to spine in black. With dust jacket. Slight rubbing to ends and board edges spotting to edges and early leaves a very good copy in the jacket with faint dust-soiling to rear panel and small chips to ends and corners. hardcover

The course descriptions are by various illustrators none of whom appear to be credited. The Free University allowed students to register for "any number of courses" for a one-time registration fee of $10. Instructors worked on a volunteer basis; among the subjects offered were self-defense dance beekeeping body massage yogurt and "theory of orgasm" though not included in the catalog we imagine the practicum must have been interesting.
