1783D11893Leipzig: in der Weydandschen Buchhandlung 1783. First Edition. Paperback. Good. 8vo 215 x 130mm. 8 456pp. Title with copperplate engraved vignette of pastoral scene. Original paper wrappers edges uncut; contents lightly browned edges slightly curled otherwise good. Rare first edition of Jungs German Cameralistic treatise on agricultural production published in 1783. Dr. Jung was teacher and physician who published widely on topics of forestry agriculture and farm manufacturing. This treatise is principally engrossed with the numbering and categorizing of the different systems of agricultural production. In this Lehrbuch Jung especially supports the full study of botany and zoology as a foundation for economic progress in agriculture. Of veterinary interest there are several entries on the physiology of animals starting on page 206. In this work Jung famously recommends the German system of mercantilism Cameralism to govern the accounting of agriculture endeavors he suggests using a double-entry system. Jung was a proponent of the Cameralistic system that had its practical dimensions and could be seen as the 18th-century equivalent of modern day public finance and policy. Though Jung is less strong on the writing on economic administration his aims were to create a textbook reference to the related parts and subsections of agricultural production it is clear Jung had a firm technical foundation in natural scientific knowledge probably from his Lautern school days. Copies found in Germany Switzerland and Denmark not located in US. Rare treatise and good in original wrappers.

in der Weydandschen Buchhandlung paperback books

19902308560Princeton: Princeton University Press 1990. Trade Paperback. Very Good. Bottom corner of front wrapper creased a few pages dog-eared. 1990 Trade Paperback. xv 608 pp."One of the most important of Jung's longer works and probably the most famous of his books Psychological Types appeared in German in 1921 after a "fallow period" of eight years during which Jung had published little. He called it "the fruit of nearly twenty years' work in the domain of practical psychology" and in his autobiography he wrote: "This work sprang originally from my need to define the ways in which my outlook differed from Freud's and Adler's. In attempting to answer this question I came across the problem of types; for it is one's psychological type which from the outset determines and limits a person's judgment. My book therefore was an effort to deal with the relationship of the individual to the world to people and things. It discussed the various aspects of consciousness the various attitudes the conscious mind might take toward the world and thus constitutes a psychology of consciousness regarded from what might be called a clinical angle." In expounding his system of personality types Jung relied not so much on formal case data as on the countless impressions and experiences derived from the treatment of nervous illnesses from intercourse with people of all social levels "friend and foe alike" and from an analysis of his own psychological nature. The book is rich in material drawn from literature aesthetics religion and philosophy. The extended chapters that give general descriptions of the types and definitions of Jung's principal psychological concepts are key documents in analytical psychology."--rear wrapper Princeton University Press paperback books
