Prima edizione di questo romanzo politico scritto in forma di dialogo.Descrive il ritorno di un giovane dopo i suoi viaggi pieni di idee progressiste tedesche. La sua famiglia tutti buoni cittadini onesti di Parigi non sono in grado di capirlo e alla fine credono che sia andato fuori di senno. Il medico di famiglia convince il padre del giovane a farlo internare in un manicomio privato. Lì trova diversi pazzi il che ovviamente dà all'autore l'opportunità di dipingere i diversi partiti che dividono la Francia come varie forme di follia.LA. M. altri non è che Lelarge Jacques Honore de Lourdoueix 1797-1860 scrittore e giornalista francese direttore della "Gazette de France" e dello "Spectateur" dove fu sempre costretto a conciliare le tradizioni monarchiche e religiose con le tendenze liberali della nostra epoca. His family all good honest citizens of Paris are unable to understand him and at last believe that he has lost his senses. The family doctor persuades the young man's father to have him committed to a private madhouse. There he finds several lunatics which of course give the author an opportunity of painting the different parties which divide France as various forms of madness.</p><p>The frontispiece displays a woman dressed as folly casting an image from a magic lantern from this image the young man is inspired to write.</p> Paris: Chez Pillet,
