Jefferson gave his copy of the work to the Library of Congress . The Library loaned Jefferson's copy to Pierre duPont as the basis of his translation for this edition . DuPont prints here a facsimile of Jefferson's copy including Jefferson's own notation of the author on the title page in his hand . The Paris edition had not revealed the author .
