New York: Wemple & Company 1900 Fold-out and free-standing chromolithographed triptych trade card with advertising on verso for both Floreston Cologne and Parker's hair balsams and tonics 14cm. Two outer panels show vases with flowers pink peonies and blue forget-me-nots while the middle panel features a pensive child wearing a heavy bonnet. Margins rubbed and corners gently bumped; Verso margins scuffed and joint printing lightly faded. A scarce and Very Good or better example of quackery ephemera. Book is in excellent condition with two lightly bumped corners, slight wear at bottom edge. Binding is solid and square, exterior shows no other blemishes, text/interior is clean and free of marking of any kind. Dust jacket shows the slightest signs of shelf wear only, no tears. Black cloth covers with a photo-illustrated dustjacket. Lavishly illustrated with full page mostly colour photographs, including endpapers. Published posthumously as an ode to Versace and his art collection just after his death in July 1997; it was the last book he worked on. Works from his art collection are included in close-ups with fashion shots of male and female models. About 150 pages, unpaginated.

(12) Loose leaf pages 10 x 12 1/2" with tipped-in color plates depicting traditional costume, clothing, of the Alsace region in France with one page intro and a Table des Planches describing each plate being a reproduction of an illustration created between 1680 and 1863, with most being in the early 1800's. Ex-library material, the intro pages (2) have library markings on them, the pages and the plates themselves are unmarked. Unbound in a hardcover string-tied folder made by the library. Pages are age-toned at edges a few of the pages have a torn corner or a dog-ear, the plates are all in excellent condition and unmarred in any way. No publication date, circa 1930. Text is in French

Asking the recipient 'through this medium to recommend my son Lieut Halliday Francis Halliday born around 1776; fl. 1820 of the Thunderer now at Jamaica to the notice of Lord Hugh Seymour; Sir Hyde Parker has sent me an account of him but to my great disappointment has not brought him Home - - - - - Francis has been six years in the East & West Indies & very attentive to his profession'. She feels sure that 'a line from yr. Lordship to Lord Hugh could not fail of being of great use to him'. Docketed on reverse 'Mem: Enquire abt. this. Lady Jane calls him Lt. but he does not appear to be so.' A second note ends 'I will mention her Son to Ld. Hu: Seymour when I next write to him.'
