Das ca. 200-jährige Haus im Ortskern von Sils Maria in dem Friedrich Nietzsche sieben Sommer verbrachte 1881 und 1883-1888 gehörte zu jener Zeit der Familie Durisch und blieb auch nach Nietzsches Aufenthalten lange in Privatbesitz. Zeitweilig wurde es vom benachbarten Hotel Edelweiss auch als Personalhaus benutzt. 1958 sollte das Gebäude verkauft werden und einen Gewerbebetrieb aufnehmen was grosse architektonische Veränderungen mit sich gebracht hätte. Doch dazu kam es glücklicherweise nicht. Dem ideellen und finanziellen Engagement mehrerer Persönlichkeiten die den kulturhistorischen Wert des Hauses erkannten und es einer breiteren Öffentlichkeit zugänglich zu machen wünschten ist es zu verdanken dass 1959 die Stiftung Nietzsche-Haus in Sils-Maria gegründet werden konnte. Sie erwarb das Haus liess es sanft renovieren und richtete dort ein Museum ein. www.nietzsche-haus.ch paperback
