Ownership inscription of Isidor Rubel on front free endpapers stamp on title pages. This biography of Nietzsche was compiled by his sister Elisabeth Förster-Nietzsche 1846-1935. Both volumes were published prior to Nietzsche's death in 1900 but the mental illness that dominated the final decade of his life was so severe that he lost all autonomy. Elisabeth's work received significant criticism both from scholars as well as family and friends. As the sole editor of her brother's estate she garnered a reputation for altering and recontextualizing his life and work to complement her own ideology which was in line with the values of the Nazi Party. A third part was published in 1904 not present here.

Druck und Verlag von C. B. Naumann hardcover books
