Navy cloth. · Condition: Cloth discolored especially on the back which is also decayed chipped and brittle. "Burton Edward Eames. 39 Thayer Hall Cambridge Mass." is inscribed on front free endpaper. · Comments: Eames entered Harvard Law School in 1900 and was graduated in 1903; he thereafter practiced law in Boston. See Harvard College Class of 1900 Secretary's Fourth Report 1915 at 134. According the "Dorm History Search" "Buxton sic E. Eames" a law student occupied room 39 in Thayer Hall in 1901. For the year 1901-02 Evidence was a second year course taught by Professor Thayer. See Harvard University Catalogue 1901-02 at 546. After Thayer died on February 14 1902 Professor Beale continued the course for the remainder of the term. See "The Harvard Bulletin Feb. 26 1902 at 2". This appears to be the only occasion Beale taught evidence.
