Sebbene Farson torni fino all'infanzia infelice di Bacon in Irlanda, il volume che dedica all'artista è una memoria molto personale, il resoconto di prima mano e senza veli di uno spaccato di vita e di un'amicizia durata quarant'anni, fino alla morte di Bacon nel 1992.
