This song was released the same year as the publication of the novel of the same name with the words and music written by the author. Green Grass of Wyoming is the last book in a trilogy that begins with My Friend Flika followed by Thunderhead. All three novels were made into films with Green Grass of Wyoming starring Peggy Cummins Charles Coburn and Robert Arthur with Marilyn Monroe appearing as an uncredited extra.
