Although he was Jewish he was educated by the Jesuits; his work had a revival of popularity in the mid-20th Century. This is a popular late Victorian edition in a lovely decorative binding. Tan cloth stamped in brown black and gilt. Clean text; xxiv 224 pages. All edges are gilt. Interestingly the translation is by the Jewish poet and Zionist Emma Lazarus 1849-1887. Includes a Biographical Sketch and frontis portrait. There is no publication date but per WorldCat Quercus accepts 1890 as most probablr. Very Good Plus to Near Fine.
