Der Hauptverfasser ist Caspar Sturm 1475-1552 kaiserlicher Reichsherold und Begleiter Luthers zum Reichstag zu Worms 1521 der im vorliegenden Werk eine frühere Publikation des Schuhmachers und Dichters Hans Sachs 1494-1576 unter dem Titel "Ordenliche Beschreibung der Roemischen Keyser von dem ersten an biß auf den jetzigen großmechtigisten keyser Carolum V." erweitert um die "Furstlichen Historien auß Goettlichen und Heidnischen schrifften" neu herausgibt. Das hier mit Holzschnitt-Portraimedaillons versehen Werk Hans Sachs"Ordenliche Beschreibung der Roemischen Keyser " erschien erstmals ohne Illustrationen 1530 unter dem Titel "All Roemisch Kaiser " in Nürnberg. Hans Sachs und Caspar Sturm lernten sich wohl zu dieser Zeit in Nürnberg kennen Sachs widmete Sturm als Erinnerung ein Gedicht das sich auch im vorliegenden Werk als Einleitung zu "Ordenliche Beschreibung " findet: "Eyns Tages bat ich eyn Erenholt Das er mir zurtz erzelen solt Aller römisch keiser nam Wie einer nach dem andern kam.
