200367493Deutsche Guggenheim. Fine. 2003. First Edition; First Printing. Softcover. 089207292X . Stiff unmarked book in stiff card covers; about new. English text. ; 8.5 x 11"; 136 pages; A richly illustrated artist's book that serves as both an exhibition catalog and a standalone exploration of Sachs' massive installation Nutsy's. The book documents Sachs' ambitious satirical project: a full-scale handmade replica of a McDonald's restaurant and broader "Nutsy's" world constructed in his signature DIY aesthetic using plywood foamcore hot glue cardboard scavenged materials and everyday objects. The installation critiques consumerism globalization corporate branding and the corruption of modernist idealslinking the utopian vision of Le Corbusier's Unité d'Habitation a symbol of modernist housing ideals with the commercial success and cultural dominance of McDonald's representing the "failure" of high modernism through mass production and uniformity. Introduction/essay by Glenn O'Brien art critic and writer providing context on Sachs' work and the project's themes. Contributions from John G. Hanhardt Guggenheim curator and Maria-Christina Villaseñor co-curator. Tom Sachs' own commentary sketches notes and handwritten explanations of the concept materials and satire. A detailed fold-out map/poster of the Nutsy's racetrack layout showing the entire installation's floor plan stations eg McDonald's ghetto art park and the remote-control car course in a rear pocket. Grok . Deutsche Guggenheim paperback
