As coifas e os cantos das pastas encontram-se ligeiramente desgastados.</p>_x000d_<p>Charles de Marguetel de Saint-Denis senhor de Saint-Évremond Saint-Denis-le-Gast 1614 - Londres 1703 é considerado uma figura de transição entre Michel de Montaigne e os filósofos iluministas do século XVIII. Nasceu e estudou em França tendo mesmo tentado fazer carreira militar na sua juventude. Na sequência da queda de Nicolas Fouquet em 1661 acabou por escapar para a Inglaterra e Holanda devido a uma carta de conteúdo controverso ter sido descoberta pelos agentes de Jean-Baptiste Colbert.</p>_x000d_<p>A maior parte da sua obra não foi escrita com o intuito de ser publicada no entanto alguns dos seus manuscritos foram revelados à imprensa ainda durante a sua vida. A primeira edição completa do seu trabalho foi realizada em 1705. A sua prosa é constituida por cartas e discursos abrangendo variados temas desde sátiras a críticas literárias.
