Written by Alexis Leger better known by his pseudonym Saint-John Perse a French poet writer and diplomat awarded the 1960 Nobel Prize in Literature. Translated by Thomas Stearns Eliot an American poet essayist and playwright. In the original full cloth binding. Externally sound with light rubbing to the extremities and the odd mark to the boards. Fading to the spine and board edges. Internally firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot. Light spotting to the endpapers with a contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper. Features four full page and full color reproductions of color prints by Georges Braque. Since the book itself is oversize and oblong the effect of the prints is spectacular. .
