Le papier a été spécialement fabriqué par Perrigot-Masure. Tirage à 150 exemplaires, achevé d'imprimer en fin d'ouvrage daté de 1925. Un des 100 exemplaires réservés aux membres de la Société, exemplaire nominatif n°16, pour Michel Machart. Edition illustrée de la pièce d'Edmond Rostand. Inspirée de la légende médiévale de Joffroy Rudel, prince de Blaye, tombé amoureux d'une princesse lointaine sans l'avoir jamais vue, cette oeuvre en vers explore l'idéal de l'amour courtois et l'aspiration vers l'inaccessible. Créée le 5 avril 1895 au Théâtre de la Renaissance à Paris, avec Sarah Bernhardt dans le rôle de Mélissinde, la pièce mêle lyrisme et mélancolie dans une quête de l'absolu. George Desvallières (1861-1950) est un peintre français reconnu pour son engagement dans le renouveau de l'art sacré ; il a cofondé les Ateliers d'Art Sacré avec Maurice Denis en 1919. Valentine Reyre (1889-1943), peintre et illustratrice, a également contribué à ce mouvement, apportant une touche délicate et poétique à ses compositions. Bel état des planches et du texte, bon exemplaire.
