Light edge wear to portfolio else a fine and complete set. The complete series of 8 lithographs by this great french illustrator 7 of which are SIGNED IN PENCIL BY ROBIDA. The original lithographs depict the cities of France and Belgium destroyed by the Germans in World War I. Included are Reims Louvain Senlis Malines Arras Termonde Soissons and Ypres. Each of the fascicules was originally sold separately. At some point sets of the 8 prints were gathered together and issued with the portfolio. Complete sets with the lithographs signed by the artist are very rare. E. Baudelot hardcover

All housed within a portfolio with cloth spine and corners and front board printed in black original ties present. A little general wear and rubbing to the portfolio which is slightly marked otherwise contents and plates in excellent clean condition. The complete series is of 8 lithographs but this portfolio only includes 7 which are Reims Louvain Senlis Malines Arras Termonde and Ypres all cities in France and Belgium destroyed by the Germans in World War I. Each of the fascicles was originally sold separately but it seems that they were also sold later together as a set in this portfolio. A very good colllection. E. Baudelot Hardcover

Slight edgewear hinges a trifle weak traces of bookplate removal on front endpapers of both volumes but a fine example with the covers clean and bright.</p> <p> First Robida Edition. Robida an illustrator and caricaturist provided the artwork for this famous edition of the works of Rabelais including the design for the striking publisher's binding. </p> .
