Fils d'un menuisier il étudie pour devenir notaire mais dans l'ennui de telles études il s'adonne à la caricature. En 1866 il dessine au Journal Amusant puis dans diverses revues. unknown

Opera completa delle tre celebri decine, edita e rilegata in 2 volumi in-8° (cm. 24,2x15,6), pp. (6), III, 396; pp. (4), 378, (6) con 600 ILLUSTRAZIONI (tra cui 8 TAVOLE a COLORI, 95 TAVOLE b.n., moltissime grandi). Mz. tela recente con i dorsi coevi in tela marron zigrinata e tit. oro applicati ai dorsi, piatti ricoperti da bellissima robusta e introvabile carta granulosa. Bellissime le sguardie coeve in simil-tessuto grigio decorato a rondini e rami fioriti. Front. in rosso e nero. CONSERVATE all'interno (pur lievem. rifilate) le copp. edit. anteriori ill. a colori. Firme coeve agli occhielli. Capolavoro di Balzac in sfavillante linguaggio boccaccesco pseudo-medievale; e del grandissimo Albert ROBIDA (Compiègne 1848-Neuilly-sur-Seine 1926), illustratore, litografo, caricaturista dal 1866, giormalista e romanziere.
In-8 (mm. 247x157), 2 volumi, mz. marocchino con ang., dorso a cordoni con tit. oro, conserv. le belle brossure orig. a colori, pp. (8),III,396,(4); (4),378,(4); con le straordinarie composizioni di Robida (102 sono a p. pag. e 8 a colori) che illustrano questa raccolta di 30 racconti licenziosi di Balzac. "Prima edizione" in una speciale tiratura di 25 esemplari numerati “sur papier de Chine”, con aggiunto un magnifico acquarello originale dell’artista che porta il titolo manoscritto del racconto “L’héritier du diable”, cui si riferisce. Una delle più rare opere illustrate da Robida (1848-1926): “peintre, graveur, illustrateur, caricaturiste, dessinateur de talent, qui était aussi un érudit”. Cfr.
