A copy of Eugne Labiche's Thatre Complet. With an introduction by Emile Augier. A French literature writer and playwright Eugne Labiche 1815-1888 started his career as a dramatic critic. Labiche gained some success and popularity with his first plays and vaudevilles which he both wrote and performed them. He was known for great works of the French imbroglio style of play. Emile Augier 1820-1889 was a fellow playwright who occupied the premier seat at the Acadmie Franais. He was a realist in his work who shunned romantic notions. Augier worked with Labiche fairly regularly on comedies that are noted to be some of his better works. Complete in 10 volumes. In a quarter morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally smart with light fading to spine to all. Light rubbing and light bumping to spine and extremities to all. Rear hinge slightly straining but sound to vol 1. Rear board bent with cracks to vol 4. Internally firmly bound. Pages generally bright and clean with browning to blanks. Agetoned to vols 1 4 5 6 7 8 9 and 10. Pencil annotation to title page to vols 2 and 3. Small tear to half title and page 3 of vol 2. Very Good Calmann Levy hardcover
