Back cover shows some discoloration. Gilt is bright. Corners are sharp. Dust jacket shows age tanning creases edgewear foxing rubbing soiling and scratches to all extremities. Heavy chipping and open and closed tears to top and bottom edges and corners. Puncture to center of spine. All four corners of the flaps are clipped but $2.00 price is visible on the front flap. Stray pencil mark to front flap. Top edge of textblock gilt. Gilt is shiny with a few small scratches and minor gilt loss. Fore edge and tail edge show age tanning scratches and spots of foxing. Light paste action to front and rear pastedowns with offsetting to free endpapers. Bookseller's label on front pastedown with offsetting to front free endpaper. Inscription written in ink by previous owner on front free endpaper: "To my husband - ending his college courses - 1931 - Consolation Prize -". Heavy foxing to bibliography page frontispiece and title page. List of illustrations page shows repair made with tape. Front hinge shows two small tears but otherwise hinges are solid.
