The end sheets are marbled paper and the top edge of the text block is gilt. A 12mo of 7 1/4 by 5 inches with the leather worn through over the tips of the boards and the leather is rubbed at the head and heel of the spine. 172 pages of text. Illustrated with a frontispiece and 20 plates and small engraved vignettes at the head of each story. Seen in both blue and maroon variant cloth binding.This work originally appeared in 1886 on the 'Civil & Military Gazette Press' in Lahore and was reprinted in Calcutte in the same year with multiple further editions following. Kipling tended to add poems with each new edition both to the 'Ditties' and the 'Other Verses.' Twenty-four leaves of publisher's catalogue to rear. In the original publisher's full cloth binding.
