The covers are slightly soiled with some rubbing and a couple of tiny chips along the top edge of the front cover near the spine and a tiny tear to the top edge of the rear cover. There are some minor creases to the corners of the covers. 4 pages with Kipling's 20-line poem entitled "A Choice of Songs" printed on one page. The book is creased vertically down the center. Very good. <p>First edition limited to only 94 copies of the American copyright issue. Kipling was one of the most popular writers in the British Empire in both prose and verse in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and was awarded the Nobel Prize in literature in 1907. As a solution Kipling's publisher arranged for small chapbooks of which this is an example to be published. First edition first printing. Publisher's original bright rich blue/purple cloth with bright gilt lettering and decorations to the front board and spine virtually as new and without wear fresh and as new throughout with the original glassine intact but split half way at the spine housed in the original card box in blue paper bearing the Musson imprint on the side label and an illustrated title mounted to the lid. The box is worn and broken at the corners but still holding well two pieces of tape were used at one corner of the lid but overall the box is good scarce in this condition and in box.
