Very small tears to the tail of the rear joint and spine tail. Scattered spotting to endpapers. Front hinge is a little strained but holding firm. Internally firmly bound. 1944BK171<p>Rare vintage 1944 USA Armed Services Edition ASE of "Kim" by Rudyard Kipling. These editions were specially printed for distribution to U.S. armed forces during World War II and were not available for sale to the public. The Armed Services Editions ASEs were a series of books printed during World War II and the first ASE of "Kim" by Rudyard Kipling was printed in 1944 during the final phase of World War 2.</p><p>The ASE program ran from 1943 to 1947 and "Kim" was one of the titles distributed to U.S. military personnel. The title refers to this Armed Services first edition printed and distributed to Armed Services serving overseas at the height of WW2. The Armed Services paperbacks are considered collectible due to their rarity and historical significance.</p><p>This book is intact and legible with no water damage or missing pages. That said both front and back cover show signs of wear there is uniform aging/browning observed throughout on all pages. A few pages are foxed or missing small edge pieces. The binding is functional however it is fragile and we are storing the book flat and with support.
