A la mémoire de Joseph Conrad et ses navigateurs" Six pages musical partition in pencil with title and annotations in ink. 350 x 270 mm. Inscribed by Benoist-Méchin to Adrienne Monnier. Before becoming a politicianthe young Benoîst-Méchin tried his hand as a composer. He was not yet 20 years old when he wrote the first piece. At Adrienne Monnier's request he also translated the "Penelope" section of Joyce's "Ulysses" for which he supplied musical notation that Joyce had photographed and used in print. When he was an official in the Vichy government Benoîst-Méchin was able to use his influence to have Sylvia Beach released from internment. <br/><br/> unknown books
