The boards have been well protected by the dust jacket and are clean with firm sharp corners and the merest hint of shelf-wear. Internally clean and bright and without name inscription or bookplate. The jacket which is now protected in a removable clear cover not shown is complete with a little fading to the spine and with touch of rubbing to the corners a couple of short closed tears of under 0.5 cm to the head of the spine and a little creasing to the spine. All in all a very good looking copy of Cary's first African novel drawing on his experiences in the Nigerian Political Service.
