The four wonderful surreal lithographs were drawn by the author Ionesco and were printed on Fabriano 'Unbria' by Erker Presse Franz larese and Jurg Janett in St. Gallen Switzerland. The paper was made at Cartiere Enrico Magnani in Pescia Italy. The book is unread and unmarked and except to photograph it's contents unopened. The Book is bound in fine creme parchment as is the printed jacket. The velvet lined slip case is bound in the same parchment except for the top and bottom edge which is fine red Morocco leather. The book starts with a conversation between Eugene Ionesco and Verena Heyden-Rumsch in paris in 1987 which has been translated by Barbara Wright. Ionesco has been quoted as saying about this and other plays and writings " My sole concern is the constant attempt to split apart the veil of appearances." In this play which is a journey to the extremities of death has the veil of appearances not been completely split have we not arrived on the other side- the side of truth asks Heyden-Rumsch." No we are caught up in that split." states Ionesco. A wonderful and fascinating look at a modern almost abstract master of modern literature.
