Plats et intérieur frais malgré d'infimes frottis et tassements aux coins, ainsi qu'un peu de jeu au niveau des cahiers. Mors intérieur légèrement fendus. Roman d'aventures et d'anticipation, écrit par Paul Cousturier dit Paul de Sémant avec un frontispice et de magnifiques illustrations en noir in et hors texte par l'auteur. Rare édition originale en assez bel état général de fraicheur.

Couverture décoré par deux triangles, l'un noir et l'autre blanc, chacun avec une partie du titre. Dos carré insolé. Plats et insolés avec brunissures aux bords. Magnifique texte d'anticipation mettant en scène la lutte entre des Robots et des Indiens d'Amérique du nord ( Hopis et Navajos ). L'ouvrage contient en hors texte 3 magnifiques illustrations d'Eric de Nemès, ainsi que deux magnifiques photos en noir d'Indiens Katchinas, ainsi que des bandeaux et culs-de-lampe indiens originaux. Seul le tirage de tête comportait 6 illustrations. Au colophon indique 4 illustrations, mais notre exemplaire n'en compte que 3. Un des 25 exemplaires hors commerce numérotés sur couché du service de presse ( n° 574 ). Rarissime édition originale. Précieux exemplaire enrichi d'une magnifique dédicace autographe d'une demi page de l'auteur à Jean Massip dit Le Colonel Perrel.Ce dernier, fut un un grand résistant, volontaire pour le Front d’Orient, en 1940, il fut aussi un des premiers qui répondirent à l’appel du 18 juin du Général de Gaulle. Il fut désigné par ce dernier, pour diriger le Service d’information de la France Libre. Au plus fort de la bataille de l’Atlantique, il obtint de s’embarquer sur un cargo à destination de Sainte-Lucie pour y préparer le ralliement des Antilles françaises. Devenu le colonel Perrel il passa dans l’île de la Dominique et y regroupa les patriotes qui, chaque nuit, sur des barques de pêche, s’échappaient de la Martinique où l’amiral Robert maintenait une stricte fidélité au gouvernement de Vichy. Ainsi fut constitué le noyau du bataillon des Antilles qui devait s’illustrer sur les pentes du Monte Cassino. En juillet 1943, le colonel Perrel entrait dans Fort-de-France libérée.

Précieux exemplaire enrichi d'une lettre autographe manuscrite de J.H Rosny aîné adressée à Raymond Schwab, qui fut un écrivain et haut fonctionnaire français.

René Brantonne, dit Brantonne, né le 3 janvier 1903 à Paris et décédé le 16 octobre 1979 à Créteil est un illustrateur, un graphiste et un et dessinateur de bande dessinée français. Il est surtout connu pour ses nombreuses illustrations de couvertures des romans de science-fiction édités au Fleuve noir, dans la collection Anticipation. Ce numéro est "mythique" pour les collectionneurs. On n'en voit pas beaucoup dans sa vie ! Notre exemplaire n'est pas, comme souvent, d'une première fraîcheur mais la première de couverture et le dos sont très présentable ! EXTREMEMENT RARE. Book is in fair condition but 1st state dustjacket is very good having been protected in brodart by the library. Book Condition Notes: Library stamp to the top textblock edge along with a withdrawn stamp and an RFID tag to the front pastedown appear to be the only library markings. Bending to the corners and crimping and wear at the spine tips. But the worst damage is the damp warble to the textblock visible in the photos. Notation in pen to the rear free endpaper appears to be the only writing. Dustjacket condition: Original $24 price intact on the front flap and "Crown Publishers New York 8/11" on the rear flap indicating the first state dustjacket without the bestseller blurb to the front panel. A very good dustjacket with crimping at the tips of the spine panel and a little bending at the rear flap clean and bright. Cline's runaway bestseller in its true first printing form.
